P.A.T Testing; Portable Appliance Testing, is essential for all businesses and public sectors and is a Health and Safety requirement under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

All of Inside Out Developments electrical P.A.T Testing is carried out to the IEE code of practice for in-service inspections and testing of electrical equipment and all the Inside Out Development Electricians are City & Guild 2377 qualified.

The Health and Safety at Work Act places all legal responsibility on employers, and self-employed persons for the safety of any portable electrical appliances in their ownership in the following circumstances

Where appliances are used by employees
Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops, etc
Where appliances are supplied or hired
Where appliances are repaired or serviced

A P.A.T test involves a technical test and visual inspection of the electrical item by a qualified electrician which determines whether or not the appliance is safe to use. Dependant on the results; the appliance will get either a pass or a fail status. This test is generally required every year, but depends upon the type of appliance, the nature of its use and the environment in which it is used.

Equipped with the latest testing equipment and up-to-date knowledge on all regulations; the Inside Out Developments electrical department provide a Portable Appliance Testing service for all appliances your business could need testing. From kettles to portable heaters; the appliance will be tested, inspected and labelled accordingly, while you will be provided with certification and any failure reports. In events when an appliance does fail, we can even make simple on site repairs.
